A quiet month

January has seen me be quiet for once. It's not often words fail me, or that I don't have some smart remark to make over something someone else is saying. But January 2013 will go down in the books as one of those months where Heather had nothing to say.

Mum died on 7th January 2013, and we celebrated her life with friends and family at her funeral on 25th. We remembered the happier times before Mum got sick, listened to some of her favourite music by The Seekers  The Carnival is Over and Open up Them Pearly Gates before saying goodbye, and reading this poem, the lyrics from the song by Celine Dion.

Fly, fly little wing,
Fly beyond imagining,
The softest cloud, the whitest dove,
Upon the wind of heaven's love,
Past the planets and the stars,
Leave this saddened world of ours,
Escape the sorrow and the pain,
And fly again

Fly, fly precious one,
Your endless journey has begun,
Take your gentle happiness,
Far too beautiful for this,
Cross over to the other shore,
There is peace forever more,
But hold this memory bittersweet,
Until we meet

Fly, fly do not fear,
Don't waste a breath, don't shed a tear,
Your heart is pure, your soul is free,
Be on your way, don't wait for me,
Above the universe you'll climb,
On beyond the hands of time,
The moon will rise, the sun will set,
We won't forget!

Happy New Year!

Out with the old, in with the new... wishing you all a very happy new year from Grace, Matt the Husband and me. We're hoping for a healthy year for our friends and family, a slimmer year for ourselves, and a fun-packed year full or simple experiences for Grace.

...saving money on the energy bill.... only kidding, we got these for Xmas!

Grace, Christmas 2012, age 28 months....
